Data Architecture

Data Architecture is one of the foundations of enterprise architecture. Data Architecture describes how data is processed, stored and accessed for a given business functionality. There are three phases of data architecture which captures various levels of information.

  • Conceptual – Conceptual model captures the concepts or semantics of the functionality
  • Logical – Logical model captures the business information in terms of entities, attributes and the relationship between the entities
  • Physical – Physical model captures how the business information is going to be stored in the relational database depending on the database product

The data architecture is captured in the form of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) either in normalized form for the OLTP (On Line Transaction Processing) applications or dimensional/star for the OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) application like analytical or executive reporting

i2Fusion, Inc. consultants study your information needs and recommend the ideal data architecture (OLTP or Dimensional/Star) that meets and delivers your business goals.
